Violator All Star DJ Showtyme is a multi-award-winning DJ and instructor who is an open format DJ and has over 30 years of professional experience. He has opened for A Tribe Called Quest, Common, Twista, Do or Die, Crucial Conflict, Flo Rida, Black Sheep, G Herbo, NLE Choppa, Yo Gotti, Jumpin Julian Perez, Fast Eddie, Omarion, Project Pat and Waka Flocka Flame just to name a few.
DJ Showtyme started at an early age. His mother, at age 3, taught him how to read and comprehend at a 2nd grade level. Throughout his grammar school years, he took first place in poetry and speech contests. "Show" (as he's affectionately called) - took to music as an outlet and started rapping in talent shows. Because of his success in academia, he excelled in contests and open mics, and kept rhyming during his high school years grabbing the attention of First Lady DJ Terry Hunter and The Late Pink House. He won open mics all throughout the city garnering massive cash prizes, awards, and popularity. After high school, he attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and wanted to major in Radio/TV (the university was ranked 3rd in the country in such a program). He soon discovered his high school friend Dana Hall was going there (who teamed up with Joe Hall (no relation) and were DJing school events). They took Show under their wing and showed him the ropes. DJ Showtyme worked WIDB FM - the college radio station - hosting his own radio show during the week and mix shows during the weekend. As his popularity grew, Show started performing out of state, DJing and rapping.
In 1995, DJ Showtyme with the collaboration of Majestic MC released his first album, "It's About Tyme". The record was an international sensation. Produced by Majestic MC, Ole Boy and co-produced by DJ Showtyme, the album featured a repertoire of House Music, Hip Hop Music and unique storytelling.
In 1999, DJ Showtyme returned to Chicago after meeting his wife and manager, Naritta. He began working right away upon locking in with Martin "Boogieman" Luna and joined the coalition "MixMasters" in DJing events. Naritta's networking and promoting lead to meeting Geno and Migna Dejornette - who introduced Show and Naritta to K-One (CEO of Drunken Style Records, a multi-cultural, Laoatian-based record label). Show became the official DJ for the label. During a Drunken Style sponsored Cassidy/ Brooke Valentine concert, DJ Showtyme met DJ Shaun T who was working with Jamal Smallz (WGCI), DJ Jermaine (MC Lyte's DJ), Kool Ant and RL in a coalition called Full Impact DJs - which DJ Showtyme joined. Afterwards, DJ Showtyme was offered an opening performance slot for DJ Slugo (Blok Club DJs) and Show performed beyond expectation; and DJ Slugo ensured to keep in touch. Months later, Violator DJ President ScrapDirty and Vice President Terry Hunter, reached out to DJ Slugo to start his own branch of Violator (Violator Juke Squad DJs). DJ Showtyme was invited to join, which led to Show's opportunity toward DJing mixes for Hip Hop Nation on Sirius/XM and eventually being recruited to Violator All Star DJs.
DJ Showtyme's professional resume' includes being Program Director of radio station Blazzin 95.1 KWWO (a subsidary of Kulturezine Music Group); having a syndicated mix show on 45 stations worldwide; and returning to Shade 45 with Inphamous Amadeuz and Lord Sear.
Additionally, DJ Showtyme also hosts for Urban Grind TV, a Hip Hop TV show executively produced by entrepreneur/entertainment lawyer/music producer/educator Wally "Mr. Music Is My Business" Lockard III. Upon inking a distribution deal with Ingrooves/Universal Records, Wally appointed DJ Showtyme as an Executive VP of A&R; and Show's first artist is Max Julian, a talented native of Chicago with an amazing live show.
DJ Showtyme currently performs at Ocean Gentlemen’s Club - the largest club in Chicago. He is available to perform for nightclubs, special events, radio, festivals, mixtapes, and event-hosting. > https://www.instagram.com/djshowtyme7/
