SUPAMAN: FIRST AMERICANS HIP-HOP



"Supaman" is Christian Takes Gun Parrish aka "Billy Ills", a Native American dancer and innovative hip hop artist who has dedicated his life to empowering and spreading a message of hope, pride and resilience through his original art form.

As a member of the "Apsáalooke Nation", Supaman makes his home on Apsáalooke lands in Montana. His one-of-a-kind presentation combines Native culture, comedy and urban hip hop culture - which dazzles audiences and captivates listeners - as DJ, singer, rapper, musician, fancy dancer and social activist. For this he has gained the respect of his community and generations.

 

Supaman has been: the recipient of the 2017 MTV VMA award for Best Fight Against the System, a Nammy “Native American Music Award” winner, a North American Indigenous Image Award winner, and 7x Tuney Awards winner. He's also been awarded The Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Award in Canada for best video and voted MTV’s new Artist of the Week! His nominations brought him home awards for Best Hip Hop Album and Best Producer for the Indigenous Music Awards.

His music videos catalog alone has millions of views on platforms such as Youtube and Facebook; and has put him in high demand to perform and tour extensively throughout the U.S.A. and internationally. He has performed for Google at the Google Headquarters in San Francisco, been requested for America’s Got Talent and the broadway play Hamilton, and highlighted in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. He was also a leading speaker and performer of the Standing Rock protests of 2016-17.

 

Including a cultural heartfelt discography of "Momma's Prayers", "Know Better Do Better", "Alright", "Lift em High", "Somewhere", "Let Em Go", "Ethnocide", "Why?" and ground-breaking albums It's Time (with Rezawrecktion), Illuminatives and Medicine Bundle - Supaman has also collaborated with many great musicians such as Mumu Fresh (Maimouna Youssef), Melanie Rutherford, and producer Nottz.
